On The Way Out

It has been a very busy day down by the Nagara river, and it seems like the exit doors have hardly been closed at all during the day. Needless to say, plenty of goings to offset the comings of the previous days. Here is a run down of who won’t be in a green kit for the 2013 J2 season.

Ryuji Hirota – Loan spell ended

The young midfielder was inconsistent last year but showed flashes of promise, and I hoped he would stick around for another year in Gifu. In fact, he will spend the 2013 season on loan again, this time at Gainare Tottori. His parent club, Vissel Kobe, will be watching him with great interest this year to see if he takes the step up many feel he is capable of doing.

Hiroki Higuchi – Loan spell ended

The young attacker spent the year at Gifu after being loaned out by his parent club Shimizu S-Pulse. Like Hirota, he showed glimpses of promise and sharpness, but in reality it was difficult for any forwards to shine in Gifu last year due to the tactics employed. He scored 6 league goals but his highlight was a barnstorming performance in the Emperor’s Cup game at Roasso Kumamoto where he scored 2 and put in a brilliant performance, only to end up on the losing side as FC Gifu were beaten 4-3. Again, I had hoped he would stay just to see if he could progress this year, but maybe the Shizuoka club have plans for him.

Abuda & Danilo – contracts have expired

The two Brazilians were brought in to give the Gifu forward line a boost, but it didn’t quite turn out that way despite initial promise. Abuda scored in the 2-2 draw at Oita Trinita, but didn’t score again after that and his season rather petered out. Danilo scored the winner against Tokyo Verdy and put in a great effort in the final home game against Tokushima Vortis. He looked decent, but didn’t play a lot due to nagging injuries. Maybe one of the reasons he has been released.

Kim Dong-Gwon – contract expired

The young Korean defender never really made his mark here after joining from Pohang Steelers. He was sent out on loan to FC Osaka in the Kansai league but made only 4 appearances for them. He might end up back there, or he might head back to Korea.

That just about deals with all the outgoings today. Hopefully there will be more incomings to report on soon.
