Is it week 5 already? Wow, time flies when you’re having fun in the third tier of Japanese football!

Again, the matchday is split over the Saturday, when there are 3 games, and Sunday. The big game on Saturday is in Nagano where AC Nagano Parceiro, proud owners of the only 100% record in the JFL, welcome Zweigen Kanazawa to the Minami-Nagano Sports Park. Parceiro are rolling at the minute, sharing goals throughout the team with Unozawa, Sato & Tanaka all with two each this season. Zweigen are coming off the back of a 1-0 home loss against Saunki last weekend but will find it tough going to get a result in Nagano. Elsewhere on Saturday, Kerlon and the rest of his Fujieda MYFC friends make the relatively short trip east to take on slow starting Y.S.C.C. while Sagawa Printing welcome Yokogawa Musashino hoping to get back on track after their defeat in Fujieda last week.

The pick of Sunday’s games is a top end clash between Kamatamare Sanuki and Blaublitz Akita in Marugame. Both teams are on 9 points heading into this fixture, but Akita have won their last 3 games and in Takeshi Handa they have a forward who knows where the goal is. Handa has scored 3 times this season, second only to Ryukyu’s Shunta Takahashi. Kamatamare won in Kanazawa last week, but suffered defeat in their last home game, so they will be hoping to get back to winning ways in front of their own fans. This game starts a run of three home games in a row for the Shikoku club and if they pick up maximum points from them they will be in a strong position in the JFL. FC Ryukyu travel MIO Biwako Shiga armed with the division’s form player in striker Shunta Takahashi. The ex-Tochigi Uva striker has basically carried on from last year, scoring goals as if they are going out of fashion. MIO will have their work cut out containing him.

Hitherto disappointing Machida Zelvia welcome HOYO Oita to Nozuta looking to kick start their spluttering campaign. Machida find themselves in 11th place, a mere two points ahead of this weekend’s visitors – a very disappointing return from their first four games. Zelvia would do well not to underestimate HOYO though. The Oita club won their last away game against Kamatamare and although they were beaten at home by Nagano last week, the result in Shikoku should leave Machida wary. Fukushima United host Tochigi Uva hoping to build on their impressive start to life in the JFL. United have taken 7 points from their first four games and will be confident of adding to that against a Tochigi side that are winless and have only taken one point so far. A battle of corporate teams takes place in Hamamatsu as Honda FC play Sony Sendai while bottom placed Honda Lock travel to Kanto to play SC Sagamihara.
