Yet again, not a very good day for the teams at the bottom with none of them able to get a win.
Roasso Kumamoto 1-1 FC Gifu
In the big game at the bottom, Hirofumi Moriyasu’s free kick earned Gifu a share of the points in Kumamoto. Yuki Horigome had given Roasso the lead after a well worked throw-in play but Moriyasu’s 88th free-kick, which Minami should really have saved, rescued a precious po9nt for Gifu.
Vissel Kobe 1-0 Kataller Toyama
Despite a valiant effort, with ‘keeper Morita in inspired form, Kataller conceded an 88th minute winner to Mazinho. Mazinho’s header means that Kataller are without a win in seven, and have only won one of their last fifteen games.
Gainare Tottori 0-0 Yokohama FC
Despite the best efforts of man-of-the-moment Genki Nagasato, who had a thumping 25 yarder pushed round the post by Schneider, Gainare had to settle for a home draw against under-achieving Yokohama FC. Gainare are unbeaten in their last three outings.
Gamba Osaka 1-1 Giravanz Kitakyushu
An excellent point for Hashiratani’s men. Gamba went in front in the first half but Koki Kotegawa’s ice cool penalty (forgetting the fact that it was a rather dubious decision) salvaged what could be a crucial point for the Sunflowers.
V-Varen Nagasaki 1-0 Thespa Kusatsu Gunma
Thespa will feel a little disappointed not to have got anything from this game as they constantly peppered the Nagasaki goal with shots. Ultimately they were undone by Koichi Sato’s predatory goal.
Advanced warning: Ehime FC were beaten again, meaning they have lost seven of their last ten games. If they don’t get a grip soon, they could well find themselves being included in this column.
This is how the bottom of the table looks now:
