FC Gifu Second progress!!

Congratulations are in order for Gifu’s reserve side, FC Gifu Second, as they won the Gifu Prefecture football tournament and with it passage into the first round of the Emperor’s Cup.

The Seconds defeated Teikyo Kani High School 6-0 at a sodden Nagaragawa Meadow ground. Teikyo passed the ball about really well at times, but were undone by the ruthlessness of their more experienced rivals. Midori’s first half goal in particular was very special. He pounced on a mis-control by the Teikyo full back and proceeded to lob the ‘keeper from 35 yards or so.

The Seconds will play Kansai University next Sunday for the right to travel to Kincho Stadium and play J1 side Cerezo Osaka. It is a great opportunity for this young team, and I hope as many people as possible get down to the Meadow next Sunday to support them. The game will KO at 1pm.

Just saw this stat about goals for and against and what time they occurred.
Tells the story of the season doesn’t it..

Will the team learn to just attack right from the start before relegation is confirmed??

I’ve been away this week, but I was just about to write something like this:

“I didn’t see the game, but believe I can accurately surmise the game by simply looking at the score. Poor first half, goals from defensive errors/poor marking, a better second half with really looking like we could over come the defecit, supporters left wondering why the first halves are always flat.”

And your stats would back that up. Don’t really care about the Tennouhai this week. The next two league games will shape Gifu’s season. Much more important to focus on them.
