It is shaping up to be a dramatic finale in the Tokai League, and FC Gifu Second have a chance of winning the title.

But, first of all, a look at the last game. The Seconds hosted Suzuka Rampole and beat them 3-1, the goals coming from Yanagisawa, Tanaka & Midori. The win moved the Seconds on to 24 points, 1 behind leaders Maruyasu and 2nd placed Azul Claro Numazu.

These are the results from the weekend:

  • Azul Claro 2-1 Toyota
  • FC Gifu Second 3-1 Suzuka Rampole
  • FC Kariya 2-2 Maruyasu
  • Yazaki Valente 2-1 Fujieda City Office

This is how the table looks now:

P W D L For Against Pts GD
Maruyasu 12 8 1 3 22 13 25 9
Azul Claro Numazu 14 8 1 5 20 21 25 -1
FC Gifu Seconds 13 8 0 5 26 15 24 11
FC Kariya 13 7 1 5 31 20 22 11
Suzuka Rampole 12 6 2 4 19 17 20 2
Toyota Sports 12 6 1 5 26 22 19 4
Fujieda City Office 12 2 0 10 12 24 6 -12
Yazaki Valente 12 2 0 10 11 35 6 -24

Maruyasu are in pole position to win the league, being top and having two games left as opposed to the one game left for Gifu Seconds. However, should Maruyasu fail to win their two remaining games, the door would be left open for the Seconds to come in and snatch it. Also, FC Kariya are still mathematically in with a chance of winning the league, as are Suzuka & Toyota, although they would all need a stellar set of results to go their way.

Maruyasu can clinch the title next Sunday when they play Toyota Sports. The neutral in me hopes they don’t so we can have an exciting end to the season.
