FC Gifu v Matsumoto Yamaga

A preview? How about you just watch what happened the last time these two teams met?

Well, there probably should be some more to the game. Gifu come into this game on the back of two successive wins and two weeks off. Gifu have a full clean bill of health (with the exceptions of long term injuries to Jinushizono & Inoue) although they will be handicapped by the suspension of star midfielder Kazuki Someya. Critical to Gifu’s plans are how they will replace Someya. I hope they go attacking and play one of Mizuno/Shibahara or even Stipe in an advanced role.

Matsumoto have drawn their last two games 2-2, against Gamba & Tochigi SC. They are without regular goalkeeper Shirai who suffered an injury against Gamba, but they do have the spiky, feisty Takayuki Funayama who will cause Arai & Kitani problems.

This is a huge game for Gifu. IF they can make it three wins in a row, the wheels will be well and truly turning for the survival run-in. Expect a big crowd and a great atmosphere on Sunday afternoon. And hopefully a positive result for the home side.

I read that Matsumoto have 20 bus loads of supporters (plus non bus riders too…).
Gifu residents can go to the game for free.
So we could be looking at a crowd of 7000 or possibly more. Should be a great atmosphere!

Gifu residents can go free? Us? As in we who live in Gifu? Do we just turn up?

It should be a corking atmosphere. Have to say, I’m really excited about this game. I just hope we are not 2-0 down after 5 mins like the Gamba game!

And I wonder if Higuchi will take Someya’s place in midfield. I kind of hope he does. I’m not normally a fan of playing players out of position, but in his case I think it would make sense tomorrow.
