On Saturday lunchtime, there was a public viewing of the Consadole – Gifu game in the old shopping district of Yanagase. Around 400 people turned up for it, more than was originally expected. In fact, I went down just after the game had started, and I had to watch form outside the building, as there was no more space inside!
Yuki Fukaya & Takahiro Takagi were there to speak to fans and to help in the running of a few activities, as was local TV personality & model Marumi Nakano. Unfortunately, the result wasn’t what FC Gifu wanted, but the fact that 400 people turned up was a big bonus. In the wake of the two big crowds recently, it is imperative that the interest is maintained until the next home game, which is a while away on July 20th.
Things like these public viewings, player events etc are good for keeping the interest up. Of course, a winning team is the best way but until Gifu can get some consistency together the PR team are still going to have to do lots of promoting to get the fans in.
