It has been a busy day in the FC Gifu front office! Along with the signing of Taisuke Mizuno, the club announced that it has reacher agreements with four players for the 2015 season. They are:
- Goalkeeper Gakuji Ota
- Midfielders Takumi Kiyomoto & Masahi Miyazawa
- Forward Junki Endo
The retention of the young core is excellent news for the club as it begins to establish a base from which to work from. Ota is 24 this week, Kiyomoto is 21 and Endo has just turned 20. Along with Mizuno (21) and Masanori Abe (23 this week) there seems to be focus on youth/youngsters – and I haven’t even mentioned the fact that the club halve also signed Yudai Ogawa, an 18 year old from Yamanashi Gakuin HS.
Miyazawa took time to get used to Gifu’s system, but he will add the veteran presence in midfield. He actually got better as the season went on, quite a feat for the 36 year old. Plus he scored his first goal in EIGHT YEARS against Matsumoto in the final home game.
Things are slowly, but surely, taking shape for 2015. And it looks a lot younger than last year.
