For FC Gifu’s opening home game, the day was designated as “Sekigahara hometown day”.
The limited Japanese history I know tells me that the battle of Sekigahara was a pivotal point in the history of Japan, site of one of the most renowned battles in this country. It is famous countrywide and the city still hosts battle recreations every year.
Yesterday, FC Gifu got into battle fever with characters, cannons, horns & battle calls before the game. Here are just a few images from the event:
* Soldiers manning the cannons
* A modern day Oda Nobunaga addresses the crowd
* The clan “greet” the visiting Sanuki supporters
* Getting ready for the “cannon call”
