Jun Suzuki signs on a special contract

Apologies for the delay, but last week FC Gifu announced the signing of defender Jun Suzuki, currently a student at Chukyo University.

The J.League allows players at university to sign “JFA/J-League Special Designated Player” contracts. This basically means that players can be attached to clubs while simultaneously continuing their studies. (Just today, FC Tokyo signed highly coveted full back Sei Muroya, currently a student at Meiji University, on the same kind of contract).

I don’t really know a lot about this kid Suzuki. He himself says he’s a physical player who likes to overlap and get crosses in – something that I would absolutely love to see.

I wonder how much playing time, if any, he’ll get considering that other youngsters Keigo Omi & Yudai Ogawa haven’t featured at all yet.

In any case, welcome aboard Jun!
