Mizuno out for 8 weeks

Today the club announced that midfielder Taisuke Mizuno would be out for the next 8 weeks after suffering a dislocated elbow in the first half of the Omiya Ardija defeat.

Taisuke landed badly after an aerial collision and had to be substituted immediately. It is never good when you have to support your arm as you walk off, and that told me that it was a pretty severe injury.

The 8 week timetable gives him a shot at returning towards the end of the season when he’ll likely bolster Gifu’s survival prospects. Get well soon Taisuke!

As for who will replace him, Masashi Miyazawa came on as his replacement in the Omiya game, Yudai Ogawa might be drafted in or Takachi could drop back in a “Volante” role. Mizuno’s position was important because he was the passing part of Gifu’s double pivot (the other part being Henik) and so Gifu need to replace his energy & range of passing. Not an easy ask.
