Something that you may have missed, especially if you rely on me for your FC Gifu news, is that FC Gifu added yet another “specially registered” player – midfielder Tsubasa Aoki from Juntendo University in Chiba.
I don’t know much about the Shizuoka native, but I spoke to someone who does and I’m told that he’s a ball playing defensive midfielder (or volante – as the Japanese like to call them). He is tall and well built – not too dis-similar to fellow young midfielder Ryutaro Karube. Apparently he likes to get his foot on the ball and do the simple things.
He didn’t really do too much on his debut against Roasso Kumamoto last week (but to be honest, not many players did). Let’s hope he gets the chance to do more for Gifu as he settles in.
