We Are Gifu

The official place for news and information on J.League side FC Gifu

Rodrigo is a much traveled forward who can count spells in Portugal & Russia on his CV. While it would probably be foolish to expect that replaces Nazarit’s goals, he will need to take on some of the goalscoring burden. I haven’t yet seen him play, so I’m not sure what to expect from his play, but hopefully he can provide pace & finishing ability.

Junki Endo

Junki Endo is a forward of high promise & of high hopes. He graduated from FC Gifu Second last year but took a while to force his way into the squad. When he did, it was clear that he had pace to trouble defenders and the trickery to win in tight situations. His first goal was a beauty, firing into the top corner against Consadole Sapporo, but the one fans will probably remember more is his stunning solo effort in Kumamoto where he turned a defender inside out before coolly slotting in. He usually finds himself drifting out to the left where he can either go outside or cut inside. Big things are expected of Junki this year, but he has the raw talent to deliver.

Hiroaki Namba

Well, where to start with the man fans call “NMB24”? Nothing much was expected of Namba when he arrived after a loan spell at Mito Hollyhock, a spell that yielded just one goal. However, when he arrived in Gifu, he almost instantly proved his worth. He scored the first goal of the Ramos era (against Kamatamare Sanuki) and went on to score a career best 12 goals. His constant energy made him an ideal foil for big Colombian Nazarit, and the pair combined to great effect. He scored Gifu’s goal of the season in the final home game, arrow a 25 yarder straight into the top corner against Matsumoto Yamaga. More than his play on the field, he has become the “spiritual leader” off the field, and his post game megaphone performances in front of the Vamos Zone are amazing to see. Not many players can do what Namba does with regards to the supporters, and that is why we love him.

Leo Mineiro

Leo Mineiro is the newest addition to FC Gifu’s squad, and as such not much is known about him. He says he’s got an eye for goal and is a good dribbler. Let’s hope so!
